Contests

Members submit photos for contests and results are announced and discussed at the next meeting. Judges are volunteers and do not need to be professional or even advanced/intermediate photographers - judging is an amazing learning experience!

 

Black & White Photography Contest - July 2013

The topic is open, with the only requirement being that the photo be black & white.  In terms of processing, dodging and burning are allowed.

Please submit ONE photo by June 8 using the submission recipe.  Results will be presented at the July meeting.

Night Photography Contest - April 2013

Entry submission must be a photo that reflects nighttime or be taken at night.

Post-Processing:
Photo editing level allowed : minimal.
Minimal means that basic adjustments like brightness, contrast, curves, saturation, etc. Can be used to enhance the photo. It also means that the photo should speak for itself, with minimal post-processing.

Follow photo submission guidelines as outlined on our website and submit by the end of Friday March 29. One entry per member.

Colour in Winter Contest - February 2013

Use juxtaposition in order to make colours stand out in the very black and white world of winter.

Technical: Photo editing may be used to alter basic characteristics (i.e. contrast, vibrancy, sharpness...) but please don't go overboard with post-processing.

Fire Contest 2012

This month's contest is on fire - your photo must include fire in a tangible way.  We also stipulate that you are not to transform your photos in this contest using Photoshop to add elements, through layers, etc.  HDR is allowed.

Submit ONE photo by September 28 using the submission recipe.  Judges will be Larry, Mary-Sue, and Francine.

Water Contest 2012

Submit ONE photo on the theme of water by April 27 using the submission recipe.  Judges will be Caleb, Carole & Dorothea.

Depth of Field Contest 2011

Your challenge is to enter one photo with the most creative use of depth of field you can think of.  Photo subject must be selected appropriately. Please see the new photo scoring scheme that will be used for judging.

Judges will be John, Tracy, and Terry Lyn.

Please submit one photo entry using the contest submission recipe (remember to resize your photo, rename the file, and copy the text provided in the recipe) by February 24 2011 at 5pm.
